Nadia Elena Comaneci
The year was 1976 and she became an international star when she scored the world's first perfect 10, on the asymmetrical bar in the Montreal Olympic Games. In the following years, she was able to score six other perfect 10, which made her the smallest Olympic All-around gold medallist aged just 14. Not only did Nadia Comaneci draw attention from all directions and help Romania locate itself in the world map. The sporting icon was a worldwide sensation after she scored a record-breaking score. She created a legend, and helped popularize gymnastics across the world. This changed the perception of female gymnasts. Her impact was so significant at the Olympics that even the uneven bar sport has two moves named after her toe-on and release move, which are, till date, assessed at a very difficult level. Besides Olympics the gymnast showed a remarkable skills at World Championships and European Championships as well, thus becoming the living legend of her time and one of the best-known gymnasts anyone could achieve. Also, she modelled and marketed the sport's equipment following her move from the US.
